FAKH picks up perishables and shelf-stable products at Krogers, Sam's Clubs, Walmart Supercenters, and Food Lions throughout our 42-county service area. These products do not meet standards for retail sale, but remain safe for consumption. FAKH drivers pick up the food from retail locations weekly and brings the food back to the food bank for distribution to member agencies. Approximately 2.5 million pounds of food is collected from participating stores (18 Krogers, 25 Walmart Supercenters, 3 Sam's Clubs and 2 Food Lions) annually through this program. The Retail Pick-Up Program is a huge success in hunger-relief efforts.
*A special thanks to the Lincy Foundation for the $100,000 grant provided to FAKH and the Walmart Foundation for an $85,000 truck to support this program!
