Simpson Co. Community Action (SCCA)

Simpson Co. Community Action (SCCA), joined partnership with Feeding America in October 2008 and has served over 175 families monthly with over 107,000 pounds of food to date. Community Action distributes government commodities once a month and truly takes advantage of this county-wide distribution to educate, involve and motivate the community. Their process of distribution is impressive to watch with volunteers manning the sign-in tables and passing out food, guest speakers/educators from various organizations (i.e., Fire & Rescue, Extension Service, local universities, medical facilities, etc.) sharing vital information with the clients in an organized fashion.

Simpson County’s distribution takes place at the Franklin-Simpson Community Park inside the Ag Building. In November 2010, SCCA along with Community Education, had the great idea to educate a population of people who they felt were underserved with helpful information regarding services the community had to offer.  This collective effort is referred to as “Community Connection” and connect with the community it does! It was a captive audience from the first presentation in January 2011 by SCCA’s RSVP director who spoke about Radon since January is Radon Awareness month.

FAKH thanks you Simpson Co. Community Action for your support and for having the initiative to go above and beyond to serve your community.  Keep up the good work!
